Jennifer Evans-Crowley Named President of the University of Texas at Arlington

The University of Texas System board of regents has named Jennifer Evans-Cowley as the sole finalist for the president of the University of Texas at  Arlington. Under state law, the regents must wait 21 days before officially naming Dr. Cowley president.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to return to my hometown to play a leadership role in shaping the future at UT Arlington, and I enthusiastically accept this opportunity and responsibility,” Cowley said. “I am eager to begin working with faculty, staff, students, alumni, the UT System, and the broader metroplex and statewide communities to help UTA achieve its full potential as it serves the people of Texas through education and discovery.”

The University of Texas at Arlington is one of the nation’s largest and fastest-growing universities. It enrolls more than 35,000 undergraduate students and more than 13,000 graduate students. Women make up 62 percent of the undergraduate student body.

Dr. Evans-Crowley has been serving as provost and vice president of academic affairs at the University of North Texas. Before joining UNT in 2017, Dr. Evans-Cowley was a member of the faculty at Ohio State University. She served there as vice provost for capital planning and regional campuses, associate dean for academic affairs and administration in the College of Engineering, and department chair and professor in the department of city and regional planning.

Dr. Evans-Cowley holds a bachelorʼs degree in political science, a masterʼs degree in urban planning, and a doctorate in urban and regional science from Texas A&M University. In addition, she earned masterʼs degrees in public administration and interdisciplinary studies from the University of North Texas.
