Robin Cautin Appointed Provost at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut

Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut, announced that Robin Cautin will be the next provost of the university. The university enrolls about 6,400 undergraduate students and nearly 3,000 graduate students, according to Fall 2000 statistics from the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 68 percent of the undergraduate student body.

Dr. Cautin had served as acting provost since May. Earlier, she was dean of the College of Arts & Sciences at the university for seven years.

“While serving as acting provost, Robin has demonstrated her grasp of the issues facing higher education and has promoted a renewed focus on academics that will be critical to the enhancement of SHU’s reputation and national presence. She is a passionate advocate for the faculty, a strong leader, and a visionary,” said John J. Petillo, president of the university.

“It’s humbling to be entrusted with the extraordinary opportunity to serve as provost of Sacred Heart, an institution deeply committed to a holistic, values-based education in a way that is bold, ambitious, and relevant,” Dr. Cautin said.

Dr. Cautin is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of New York. She is the co-editor-in-chief of the five-volume Encyclopedia of Clinical Psychology (Wiley, 2015).

Dr. Cautin is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Delaware, where she majored in psychology and philosophy. She holds a doctorate in clinical psychology from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Columbia University in New York City.
