M. Geneva Murray Received the Coalition Builder Award From the National Women’s Studies Association

M. Geneva Murray, director of the Women’s Center at Ohio University, has received the 2021 Coalition Builder Award from the National Women’s Studies Association. The NWSA was established in 1977 and aims to promote and support the production and dissemination of knowledge about women and gender through learning, research, teaching, and service in academic and other settings.

“I’m deeply honored to receive this award, and humbled to have received such support from those who wrote in support of my nomination,” Dr. Murray said. “Not only is the NWSA the professional organization that has meant much to me, and that my mentor in my undergraduate years told me that I must join, but the nature of the award is reflective of the wonderful partnerships that we have with campus and community through the Women’s Center.”

Dr. Murray has been the director of the Women’s Center at Ohio University since 2015. Earlier, she was the director of the Women’s Center at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Dr. Murray is a graduate of Texas Tech University, where she majored in sociology. She holds a master’s degree in public policy with a concentration in women’s studies from George Washington University and a Ph.D. in women’s studies from the University of York.
