Six Women Named to New Faculty Posts

Susan Trout has been appointed an associate clinical professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver. Since 2002, she has been a physician specializing in fertility at Colorado Reproductive Endocrinology.
Dr. Trout is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in New York.
Christine Evans was appointed a professor of theater at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. She was the Briggs-Copeland Lecturer at Harvard University.
Dr. Evans, a native of Australia, is an accomplished playwright. She holds a master of fine arts degree and a Ph.D. in theatre and performance studies from Brown University.
Edith Clowes was named the Brown-Forman Professor of Arts and Sciences in the department of Slavic languages and literatures at the University of Virginia. Her appointment is effective on August 25. She has been serving as a professor and director of the Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies at the University of Kansas.
A graduate of Oberlin College, Dr. Clowes holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Slavic languages and literature from Yale University.
Dina Khapaeva was appointed chair of the School of Modern Languages at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She will assume her new duties on August 1. She has been conducting research at the University of Helsinki in Finland.
Dr. Khapaeva holds a Ph.D. in history from St. Petersburg State University in Russia.
Barbara Ehren was named chair of the department of communication sciences and disorders at the University of Central Florida. She has been serving as a professor in the department and director of the department’s doctoral programs.
Before coming to the University of Central Florida in 2007, Dr. Ehren was a professor at the University of Kansas.
Laurie Anderson was named the inaugural Distinguished Artist in Residence at the Curtis R. Priem Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York.
Anderson is an accomplished performance artist. Her work encompasses film, music, writing, photography, and sculpture. She has published six books.
