Zhabiz Golkar will serve as dean of the School of Science, Technology, Health, and Human Services at Voorhees College in Denmark, South Carolina. A member of the faculty since 2014, she has been serving as chair of the department of science, technology, health, and human services.
Dr. Golkar earned a bachelor’s degree in microbiology, a master’s degree in clinical microbiology, and a doctoral degree in molecular biology from the University of Karachi in Pakistan.
Ethel Scurlock was appointed interim dean of the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College at the University of Mississippi. She is an associate professor of English and director of the African American studies program at the university. Dr. Scurlock joined the faculty at the university in 1998.
Dr. Scurlock is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, where she majored in English. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in English from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.
Dianne Harris will become dean of the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Washington, beginning September 1. She has been serving as a senior program officer in The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation’s Higher Learning program. Earlier, Dr. Harris was dean of the College of Humanities and a history professor at the University of Utah.
Dr. Harris earned her doctorate in architecture and history of architecture, a master’s degree in architecture, and a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture, all at the University of California, Berkeley.
Jackie Jones was selected to serve as the new dean of the School of Global Journalism and Communication at Morgan State University in Baltimore. She has been serving as assistant dean for programs and chair of the department of multimedia journalism at the university. She has been a journalist for more than 40 years and has won the Pulitzer Prize.
Jones is a graduate of George Washington University in Washington, D.C., where she majored in journalism.
Hallie Pritchett will serve as interim dean of libraries at North Dakota State University. She joined the staff at the university in 2018 as associate dean of libraries for research and learning. Pritchett previously worked for 11 years at the University of Georgia Libraries, rising to head the Map and Government Information Library.
Pritchett earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota. She holds a master of library and information science degree from the University of Illinois and a master of internet technology degree from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business.
