A Dozen Women Who Have Been Appointed to Administrative Positions in Higher Education

Luoluo Hong is the new vice president for student engagement and well-being at the Georgia Institute of Technology. The eldest daughter of Taiwanese immigrants, Dr. Hong joins the Institute from the California State University where she served as the associate vice chancellor for student affairs and enrollment management in the chancellor’s office.

Dr. Hong holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Amherst College in Massachusetts. She earned a master of public health degree from Yale University and a Ph.D. in educational leadership and research from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.

Ashley Hodges was appointed director of athletics at Notre Dame University of Maryland in Baltimore. She was assistant athletic director and senior woman administrator at Rosemont College in Pennsylvania.

Dr. Hodges holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise and sport science from Iowa State University. She earned a master’s degree in adult learning and organizational performance from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and an educational doctorate in athletic administration from Northcentral University.

Krista Bofill was appointed vice president for development and alumni engagement at Stetson University in Deland, Florida. Most recently, Bofill served as vice president of institutional advancement and communications at Converse College in South Carolina. She previously spent 23 years at Duke University, and served in numerous leadership positions, including leading development for the Fuqua School of Business.

Bofill earned a bachelor’s degree in hospitality and tourism management and mathematics from Rochester Institute of Technology in New York. She holds a master’s degree in education from North Carolina State University.

Stacie Clayton has been named director of community affairs at Wayne State University in Detroit. She was the director of administration and special projects for the president of Detroit City Council. Previously, she was vice president of government and community affairs for Detroit Renewable Energy.

Clayton earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and an MBA at Wayne State University.

Jill Stratton is the new assistant provost for residential education and associate dean for residential colleges at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. She was the assistant provost for experiential learning at the university. Before coming to Nashville last year, Dr. Stratton was associate dean for undergraduate residential learning at Washington University in St. Louis.

Dr. Stratton holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky. She earned a master’s degree in college student personnel administration from Indiana University and a Ph.D. in ethical and creative leadership from Union Institute and University in Cincinnati.

Kristen Smith was appointed registrar at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania. She previously served as registrar at the New York Institute of Technology and Mills College in Oakland, California.

Dr. Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Pace University in New York and a master’s degree in applied psychology in counseling education from New York University. She earned a master’s degree and a doctorate in educational leadership from Mills College.

Jaime Clark was appointed director of student health services at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She has been acting director since April and previously was the director of counseling and psychological services at the university.

Dr. Clark holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Colorado State University and completed her master’s degree and a doctorate in counseling psychology at the University of Denver.

Kelly Maxwell Haer has been appointed to the position of executive director of the Boone Center for the Family at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. Dr. Haer is a licensed marriage and family therapist and has served as the Relationship IQ program director at the Boone Center since 2017.

Dr. Haer earned a bachelor’s degree in nutrition from Furman University in South Carolina. She holds a master’s degree in counseling from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, and a Ph.D. in family therapy from Saint Louis University.

Kelly McMurray is the new associate vice president for strategic planning, analysis, and institutional effectiveness at Florida A&M University. Dr. McMurray was vice president for institutional effectiveness at Albany State University in Georgia since 2019. Earlier, she worked at the College of Southern Maryland as associate vice president for planning, institutional effectiveness, and research.

Dr. McMurray earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Clark Atlanta University. She holds a master’s degree in applied mathematics from North Carolina A&T State University and a Ph.D. in educational policy studies from Georgia State University.

Kate Law was promoted to assistant dean of students at Boise State University in Idaho. Law began working at Boise State in 2019 as the student conduct process coordinator in the Office of the Dean of Students.

Law is a graduate of Michigan State University, where she majored in environmental economics and policy. She holds a master’s degree in education from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan.

Cynthia Evers was appointed vice president of student affairs at Howard University in Washington, D.C. She was interim vice president of student affairs and dean of students at the university.

Dr. Evers received a bachelor’s degree in English from Virginia State University. She earned a master’s degree in education administration and human development and a doctorate in higher education administration from George Washington University.

Leigh Prouty is the new director of housing and residence life at the University of West Florida. For the past seven years, she was assistant director for residence life at Texas Tech University in Lubbock.

Prouty earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and law and a master’s degree in college student personnel from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina.
