Mary Todd Will Be the First Woman to Lead Phi Kappa Phi

Mary Todd, founding dean of the Honors College at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, was named executive director of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. The all-discipline honorary society, founded in 1897, has chapters at more than 300 selective colleges and universities. The society inducts approximately 32,000 members each year. Honorees can be college juniors and seniors, graduate students, faculty, professional staff, and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

When she takes office on July 1, Dr. Todd will become the first woman to lead the society in its 115-year history.

Dr. Todd was named dean of the Honors College at Marshall University in 2009. Previously, she was vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty at Ohio Dominican University in Columbus. She is a graduate of Valparaiso University in Indiana and holds a master’s degree from Roosevelt University in Chicago and a Ph.D. in American history from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
