Felicia Blow of Hampton University to Lead the Public Relations Society of America

Felicia Blow, vice president for development at Hampton University in Virginia, was named chair-elect of the Public Relations Society of America. She will serve as chair elected during 2021 and become chair of the society in 2022.

The Public Relations Society of America is a professional organization with more than 21,000 members who work in the public relations and communications fields. Represented in all 50 states by more than 110 chapters, the society has a presence on nearly 375 college and university campuses through its student organization, the Public Relations Student Society of America. The society was founded in 1947 by combining the American Council on Public Relations and the National Association of Public Relations Councils.

Blow has worked in fields including manufacturing, waste management, environmental services, telecommunications, and higher education. She previously served as director of public affairs for Cox Communications.

Blow has served the society as senior counsel to the board and as a director representing the mid-Atlantic district. In 2000, she became the first African American female president of the Hampton Roads chapter.

Blow earned a  bachelor’s degree from Hampton University and her master’s degree in business administration from Strayer University. She is pursuing a doctorate in higher education administration at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.
