Three Women Appointed to Dean Positions at Flagship State Universities

Amy Kristof-Brown, senior associate dean and Henry B. Tippie Research Professor of Management at the University of Iowa, has been named dean of the university’s Tippie College of Business. She has served as interim dean of the college since March 1. Since joining the faculty as an assistant professor in the department of management and organizations in 1997, Dr. Kristof-Brown has served in numerous roles including director of the department’s graduate studies and department executive officer. She was named senior associate dean of the college in 2017.

Professor Kristof-Brown earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and business administration from the University of Richmond in Virginia. She holds a Ph.D. in organizational behavior and human resource management from the University of Maryland.

Camellia Okpodu was appointed dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Wyoming. Her appointment will begin on June 30, 2021. Dr. Okpodu currently serves as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Xavier University of Louisiana. Earlier, she spent 15 years on the faculty at Norfolk State University in Virginia, where she chaired the biology department.

Dr. Okpodu earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and a Ph.D. in plant physiology/ biochemistry, both from North Carolina State University.

Adrian Parr will be the next dean of the College of Design at the University of Oregon. She is currently the dean of the College of Architecture, Planning and Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Arlington, a position she has held since 2018. Dean Parr will begin in her new position in March 2021.

Dr. Parr earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, an honors degree in philosophy and a master’s degree in politics and philosophy at Deakin University in Victoria, Australia. She holds a doctorate in philosophy and cultural studies from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.
