Ten Women Faculty Promoted at the University of Maine

The University of Maine in Orono has promoted three women to full professor posts.
Jennifer Moxley was named full professor of English. The author of five books of poetry, she is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island and holds a master of fine arts degree from Brown University.
Brenda Hall was promoted to professor of earth sciences. She has been on the faculty at the University of Maine since 2001. Dr. Hall is a graduate of Bates College and holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in geological science from the University of Maine.
Rebecca Holberton was named professor of biological sciences in the College of Natural Sciences, Forestry, and Agriculture. She holds a Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Albany.
Several other women faculty members were promoted to associate professor.
Gayle Zydlewski was named associate professor in the School of Marine Sciences. Dr. Zydlewski is a graduate of Southeastern Massachusetts University in North Dartmouth. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Rhode Island and a Ph.D. in oceanography from the University of Maine.
Terry Porter was promoted to associate professor of management and granted tenure. Dr. Porter is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara. She holds a master’s degree from John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill, California, and a Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts.
Victoria Susan Bennett-Armistead was named associate professor of early literary in the College of Education and Human Development. She holds bachelor’s and doctoral degrees from Michigan State University.
Julie DellaMattera was promoted to associate professor of early childhood development and education. She holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from the University of Maine.
Laura Artesani was named associate professor of music. She is a summa cum laude graduate of Bennington College in Rhode Island. She holds a master’s degree and a doctorate in piano from West Virginia University.
Kirsten Jacobson was named associate professor of philosophy and granted tenure. Dr. Jacobson earned a Ph.D. at Pennsylvania State University.
Patricia Poirier was promoted to associate professor of nursing and granted tenure. She holds a doctorate in nursing.
