Carol A. Stabile was appointed interim dean for the Clark Honors College at the University of Oregon. She is a professor of journalism and communication and has been serving as the associate dean for strategic initiatives for the College of Arts and Sciences.
Professor Stabile has taught a variety of courses in the honors college since 2013. She has taught courses on media history, feminist science fiction, and public writing. Dr. Stabile is author or editor of five books, most recently The Broadcast 41: Women and the Anti-Communist Blacklist (Goldsmiths Press, 2018)
Professor Stabile joined the faculty at the University of Oregon in 2008 after serving on the faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the University of Pittsburgh. From 2008 to 2014, Dr. Stabile was the director of the Center for the Study of Women in Society at the University of Oregon. She has been active in efforts to reduce sexual assault and misconduct on the University of Oregon campus.
Dr. Stabile is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in English from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.
