Elizabeth Mauch Named the First Woman President of Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas

The board of directors of Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas, has appointed Elizabeth Mauch as the 15th president of the college. She is the first woman president of the college. Dr. Mauch has been serving as interim president for the past year. Earlier, she was vice president of academic affairs at the college.

“I am humbled to have been asked to serve as the 15th President of Bethany College. Even though we are entering a semester with many unknowns, I am excited about the future of Bethany College,” Dr. Mauch said.

According to the latest data on file at the U.S. Department of Education, Bethany College enrolls just slightly more than 800 students. Women are only 46 percent of the student body. The college is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church.

From 2012 to 2017, Dr. Mauch was dean of the College of Education at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. She also served as a professor of mathematics at the university. After leaving Bloomsburg University, Dr. Mauch served as a Fulbright Scholar at the Lodz University of Technology in Poland.

Dr. Mauch is a graduate of Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where she majored in secondary mathematics education. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in mathematics from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
