Recently, the nation’s most academically selective colleges have sent notices to students who have been selected for admission into the Class of 2016 which will enter these schools this coming fall. Here are some relevant statistics.
”¢ At Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, 49.6 percent of all admitted students are women. This is the largest percentage of women among accepted students in the university’s history.
Ӣ For Ivy League colleges, women were 47 percent of accepted students at Harvard and 49.4 percent of accepted students at Princeton. At Brown and Cornell, women made up more than 52 percent of accepted students.
Ӣ At Williams College, the top-rated liberal arts school in western Massachusetts, 609 women were accepted for admission compared to 573 men.
Ӣ At Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, 546 women were accepted compared to 518 men.
Ӣ At Boston University, women made up a whopping 62 percent of all admitted students.
