The New President of Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College

Pamela L. Alderman is the new president of Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College in Mount Gay. She is the tenth person to hold the position. Dr. Alderman took office on May 11.
Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College enrolls nearly 1,500 students according to the latest data submitted to the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 67 percent of the student body.
“I’m so excited to begin my tenure at Southern,” Dr. Alderman said. “I’m a graduate of Southern, and I began my career here. This college is my home. I look forward to working with everyone to help make this college everything I know it can be.”
Dr. Alderman served most recently as the dean of the Bert Bradford School of Health Sciences, chair of the department of nursing, and professor of nursing at the University of Charleston in West Virginia.
Dr. Alderman graduated from Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College in 1977. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from West Virginia University. In 2012, she received an educational doctorate from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia.
