Two Women Scholars Presented With Awards in Pharmacy

Demetra Antimisiaris, who holds the Frazier Polypharmacy and Medication Management Program Endowed Chair at the University of Louisville in Kentucky, received the George F. Archambault Award, the highest honor bestowed by the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists. Honorees for this award are chosen by past recipients and are selected for their significant contributions to consultant or senior care pharmacy.

Dr. Antimisiaris also serves as assistant dean for Continuing Education and Professional Development at the University of Louisville and has a part-time appointment in the department of neurology of the university’s School of Medicine.

Professor Antimisiaris is a graduate of the University of California, Davis. She earned a pharmacy doctorate at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. She joined the faculty at the University of Louisville in 2007.

Edith Nutescu was presented with the Russell R. Miller Award at the annual conference for the American College of Clinical Pharmacy. The Russell R. Miller Award is given to outstanding individuals who provide significant contributions to the literature of clinical pharmacy.

Dr. Nutescu currently holds a professorship in the department of pharmacy systems outcomes and policy and is director of the Center for Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomic Research at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her research focuses on health services and outcomes, health disparities, personalized medicine and patient-centered models of care delivery, with an emphasis in cardiovascular diseases.

Dr. Nutescu is a graduate of the Polytechnical Institute in Bucharest, Romania, where she majored in chemical engineering. She holds a master’s degree in clinical and translational science and a pharmacy doctorate from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
