Shelley White Will Be the Next President of Haywood Community College in North Carolina

Shelley White was selected to be the next president of Haywood Community College in Clyde, North Carolina. She will take office on January 1.

“Haywood Community College is the institution for higher education in Haywood County,” said Dr. White. “As a long-time resident of Haywood County, I have seen the great work of HCC in our community and am honored to join this exceptional team.”

Haywood Community College enrolls slightly more than 1,600 students, according to the latest data supplied to the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 61 percent of the student body.

Currently, Dr. White is vice president for economic and workforce development and continuing education at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College in North Carolina. She has been on the staff there for 18 years.

Dr. White is a graduate of Applachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. She holds a master’s degree and a doctorate in community college leadership from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina.
