Bonita Jacobs Named President of North Georgia College and State University

The board of regents for the University System of Georgia has announced that Bonita Jacobs will be the new president of North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega. She will begin her new duties on July 1. Currently, Dr. Jacobs is a professor of higher education counseling and executive director of the National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students at the University of North Texas in Denton. She is the former editor of The Journal of College Orientation and Transition.

Dr. Jacobs earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and history and a master’s degree in counseling at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. She received a doctorate in educational administration from Texas A&M University.
