Three Women Scholars Promoted at Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pennsylvania

Joan Kern has been promoted to associate professor of education. She has been a Cedar Crest faculty member since 2006 and also serves as director of field experiences and student teaching

Dr. Kern holds a bachelor’s degree in early childhood elementary education and a master’s degree in education both from Kutztown University in Pennsylvania, and a Ph.D. in educational leadership from Alvernia University in Pennsylvania.

Jill Purdy has been promoted to professor of education. In addition to teaching, she also serves as director of the graduate program for the education department.

Dr. Purdy holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in reading both from East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania, and a doctorate in reading and language arts from Widener University in Pennsylvania.

Lindsey Welch has been promoted to associate professor of chemistry and awarded tenure. She has been a member of the Cedar Crest faculty since 2011.

Dr. Welch is a graduate of Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania where she majored in chemistry. She holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
