Three Women Joining the Mills College Faculty for the 2019-2020 Academic Year

Mills College, a liberal arts educational institution in Oakland, California, has announced the appointment of three women to its faculty for the 2019-20 academic year.

Jacquelyn Urbani has been named an associate professor of early childhood education in the School of Education. Currently, she is the director of the special education program at Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois, and the founding director of Great Expectation Inclusive Preschool.

Dr. Urbani is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she majored in education of the deaf. She holds a master’s degree in family-centered, early childhood, deaf education from Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., and a Ph.D. in special education from a joint program at the University of California, Berkeley and San Francisco State University.

Dana Wright has been named an associate professor of educational leadership in the School of Education at Mills College. Currently, she serves as an associate professor and chair of the education department at Connecticut College.

Dr. Wright is a graduate of Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York. She holds a master’s degree in education and an educational doctorate from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Anahita Mostafavi has been named an assistant professor of biochemistry in the Division of Natural and Health Sciences. She is currently serving as a graduate teaching fellow at Princeton University in New Jersey.

Mostafavi holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master’s degree in chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is currently completing a Ph.D. in molecular biology at Princeton University.

Two Women Selected for Key Interim Leadership Roles with the Universities of Wisconsin

Renée Wachter, chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Superior, has been selected to serve as interim president of the Universities of Wisconsin. Maria Cuzzo, provost of UW-Superior, will serve as the university's interim chancellor while Dr. Wachter assumes her new responsibilities.
