Melanie Perreault Appointed Provost at Towson University in Maryland

Melanie Perreault has been appointed as provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at Towson University in Maryland. Towson University enrolls nearly 20,000 undergraduate students and more than 3,000 graduate students. Women make up 60 percent of the undergraduate student body.

Most recently, Dr. Perreault served as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Buffalo State University in New York. She previously served as associate provost and a professor of history at Salisbury University in Maryland. At Salisbury, she also spent two years as chair of the history department. She previously served on the faculty at the University of Central Arkansas. In 2006, Professor Perreault appeared on the television game show Jeopardy!

Dr. Perreault is eager to start her assignment at Towson University. “The feeling that Towson University is going in the right direction is palpable,” she said. “This is something to celebrate. There’s almost a sense of confidence on campus, and that’s truly important.”

Dr. Perreault is a graduate of Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. She holds a Ph.D. in history from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.
