Two Women Who Are Stepping Down From High-Level Positions in Academia

Ann Dunnington has been conferred the title of professor emerita in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Virginia Tech. She has been a member of the Virginia Tech community since 1986. Her research focuses on poultry genetics and behavior and she has taught a wide variety of undergraduate courses in both the poultry science and the animal and poultry sciences programs. She was designated a Thompson Highly Cited Researcher for her work in DNA fingerprinting. For more than a decade, she oversaw the equine portion of the Hokie Harvest Sale, which generated funding to support the continuation of the equitation, teaching, and breeding programs.

Dr. Dunnington holds a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and Ph.D. all from Virginia Tech.

Berinthia R. LeVine, vice president for advancement at Cleveland State University and executive director of the CSU Foundation, will retire on June 30, 2019. She was appointed to her position in 2011 and has overseen a significant increase in fundraising operations and alumni engagement during her tenure. The university raised over $100 million to support student success initiatives and increased foundation assets by over 70 percent during her time with CSU. Prior to coming to Cleveland State, she served in senior leadership positions at Case Western Reserve University, Montefiore Home and Foundation, and the Jewish Federation of Cleveland.

LevVine holds a bachelor’s degree in social sciences, history, and secondary education from the University of Michigan, and an MBA in management from Case Western Reserve University.
