Two Women Who Have Been Appointed to Positions as Deans in Texas

Toniette Haynes Robinson has been named dean of educational resources at North Lake College within the Dallas County Community College District. She has spent the last 10 years at Austin Community College in student life administration.
Dr. Robinson holds a bachelor’s degree in communication studies, a bachelor’s degree in ethnic studies, and a Ph.D. in educational leadership and policy from the University of Texas at Austin, as well as a master’s degree in college student development from St. Edwards University in Austin.
Elizabeth Merwin has been appointed dean of the College of Nursing and Health Innovation at the University of Texas at Arlington. She was executive vice dean and the Ann Henshaw Gardiner Professor of Nursing at the Duke University School of Nursing. She also served as a professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the Duke University School of Medicine.
Dr. Merwin holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Radford University in Virginia and a master’s degree in nursing and a Ph.D. in health services organization and research both from Virginia Commonwealth University.
