Dr. Bowles served as provost at Clark Atlanta University from 2003 to 2008 and she served as dean of the university’s School of Social Work on three different occasions. Earlier in her career, Dr. Bowles was a professor and acting dean of the School of Social Work at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts.
Toniette Haynes Robinson has been named dean of educational resources at North Lake College within the Dallas County Community College District and Elizabeth Merwin has been appointed dean of the College of Nursing and Health Innovation at the University of Texas at Arlington.
Adrian Parr was named dean of the College of Architecture, Planning, and Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Arlington. Jelena KovaÄević was appointed dean of the School of Engineering at New York University and Roberta Olson will serve as interim dean of the College of Nursing at South Dakota State University.
Cynthia Haynes, professor of English at Clemson University in South Carolina, has won the annual book prize from the Rhetoric Society of America. Professor Haynes has taught at Clemson University since 2006.
Dr. Lilly was academic dean at the San Antonio, Texas, campus of the Galen College of Nursing. Earlier in her career she taught nursing at the University of Texas at Arlington and Dallas Baptist University.
The two women finalists are Cynthia Y. Young, an associate dean in the College of Sciences and professor of mathematics at the University of Central Florida, and Pamela E. Jansma, dean of the College of Science at the University of Texas at Arlington.
