Kim Carter Elected President of the Society of Research Administrators International

Kim C. Carter has been named president of the Society of Research Administrators International (SRAI). The organization is the largest network of research managers in the world and includes professionals from academia, government, nonprofits, and industry. It provides education, professional development and the comprehensive information about research management to over 5,000 members from over 40 countries.

Carter is the executive director of the Office of Sponsored Projects Administration at the University of Kentucky and associate director of the University of Kentucky Research Foundation. Her term as president of the society will start this October.

Carter has been a member of SRAI since 1987 and has held various positions in the organization throughout her career such as expert reviewer of university and nonprofit organizations’ sponsored programs support units, member of the SRAI speaker bureau, distinguished faculty, and board of directors executive committee member. Additionally, Carter has served on multiple subcommittees and was previously president for the SRAI Midwest section, Ohio chapter and Allegheny chapter.

Prior to her positions at the University of Kentucky, Carter was the associate director of the Office of Sponsored Programs at Ohio State University. She holds a bachelor’s degree and a master of public administration degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
