New Administrative Posts for 15 Women at Colleges and Universities

Heather Cosgrove is the new assistant director for training at the Syracuse University Counseling Center. She has been serving as assistant director and staff psychologist at the counseling center of Hamilton College in Clinton, New York.

Dr. Cosgrove holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York. She earned a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University at Buffalo of the State University of New York System.

Joy Haywood Moore has been named interim vice president for student affairs at Boston College. She has been serving as associate vice president for alumni relations at the college. She joined the Advancement Office at the college in 2011.

Moore is a 1981 graduate of Boston College. She is the former deputy director of the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa.

Mary Grimes-McGreer was named associate provost and associate vice president for academic affairs at Savannah State University in Georgia. She was dean and director of the Greenville, South Carolina, campus of Webster University.

Dr. Grimes-McGreer holds a bachelor of fine arts degree in professional theater from North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro. She holds a master of fine arts degree in musical theater from Alliant University and a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of South Carolina.

Norma Perez was appointed vice chancellor of instructional services and chief academic officer at Houston Community College in Texas. Dr. Perez has been on the staff at the college for 30 years and has served as interim vice chancellor since July 2017.

Dr. Perez is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, where she majored in Spanish. She holds a master’s degree in educational psychology from the University of Houston and a doctorate in educational administration from Texas A&M University.

Amy Smith was named senior director of Colorado State University Online. She has been serving as dean of the School of Education for Capella University. Earlier in her career, she served on the faculty at Concordia University in Chicago.

Dr. Smith is a graduate of the University of Colorado, where she majored in English literature. She earned master’s degrees at the University of Akron and National Louis University in Chicago and a Ph.D. in educational leadership at the University of Denver.

Dawn Underwood is the new assistant vice president for research compliance at Oklahoma State University. She was the assistant vice president for research at Chapman University in Orange, California.

Dr. Underwood earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She holds a Ph.D. in higher education administration from Indiana State University.

Alice Arredondo was appointed director of admissions at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She has served as interim director since February. Since 2008, Dr. Arrendondo has been assistant dean of admissions and recruitment at the university’s School of Medicine.

Dr. Arrendondo is a graduate of Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. She holds a master’s degree in higher education and an educational doctorate from the University of Kansas.

Sheriah Dixon was named an equal opportunity and Title IX investigator in the Office of Equal Opportunity, Inclusion, and Resolution Services at Syracuse University in New York. She has been serving as the acting director of the Office of Residence Life and Student Conduct at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse.

Dixon is a graduate of the State University of New York at Canton, where she majored in criminal investigation. She holds a master’s degree in social work from Syracuse University.

Amy Achter was appointed managing director of the Office of Business Engagement at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Since 2016, she has been director of partner development for The Nature’s Bounty, a manufacturer of vitamins and nutritional supplements.

Achter is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, where she majored in biomedical engineering. She holds a master’s degree in biomedical engineering from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

Amy Armstrong was promoted to associate vice president of alumni engagement at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. She had been serving as executive director of philanthropic operations at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Earlier, she was assistant vice president for alumni relations and development for Trinity University in San Antonio.

Armstrong is a graduate of Texas Tech University, where she majored in marketing. She holds an MBA from the University of North Texas.

Crystal L. Wheeler was appointed chief people officer at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C. In this role she will manage the hospital’s human resources functions. She was director of human resources for General Dynamics Information Technology in Fairfax, Virginia.

Wheeler is a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, where she majored in marketing. She holds a master’s degree in business and industry training from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.

Becky Jacobs was named interim director of the Accessibility Service Center in the Office of Student Affairs at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. She has been serving as an accessibility specialist at the center.

Jacobs holds a master’s degree in educational psychology.

Patti Bellinger was named chief of staff for Larry Bacow, the new president of Harvard University. She has been serving as a lecturer and senior fellow at the Kennedy School at the university. Earlier, Bellinger was executive director of the Center for Public Leadership and executive director of executive education at Harvard Business School.

Bellinger is a graduate of Harvard University, where she majored in English and American literature.

Jennifer Bell was appointed director of athletics at Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She was associate athletics director for internal operations at Coker College in Hartsville, South Carolina.

Bell is a graduate of Wofford University in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She later served as head volleyball coach at Wofford for four years and then held the same post at Anderson University in Indiana for 11 years.

Stefanie Niles was named vice president for enrollment and communications at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio. She was vice president for enrollment management at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

Dr Niles is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where she majored in English. She holds a master’s degree in education from Indiana University and a doctorate in higher education management from the University of Pennsylvania.
