Kathleen Jagger to Lead Thomas More College in Kentucky

The board of trustees of Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, Kentucky, has named Kathleen S. Jagger as acting president. She will serve as president for the coming academic year while a national search is conducted to find a permanent president.

In accepting the position, Dr. Jagger stated that “I am honored and humbled by the confidence the board of trustees has in me to sustain and grow the initiatives and the innovative spirit at Thomas More. It is exciting to have the opportunity to lead this extraordinary institution with its mission of offering a Catholic, values-based education that is transformative in the lives of our students and our community.”

Thomas Moore College, 10 minutes from downtown Cincinnati, was founded in 1921 by the Benedictine Sisters. At that time it was called Villa Madonna College. Today, the college enrolls more than 1,800 undergraduate students and more than 100 graduate students. Women make up 53 percent of the undergraduate student body.

Since 2015, Dr. Jagger has served as vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college. Previously, she was a professor of biology and held several administrative posts at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky. Earlier, she taught at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, and Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.

Dr. Jagger is a graduate of DePauw University, where she majored in zoology. She holds a master of public health degree from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of Cincinnati.
