Elizabeth Yoon Hwa Raleigh was promoted to associate professor of sociology and granted tenure at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. She joined the faculty in 2012 after teaching at Hunter College of the City University of New York System. Dr. Raleigh is the author of Selling Transracial Adoption: Families, Markets, and the Color Line (Temple University Press, 2017).
Dr. Raleigh is a graduate of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, where she majored in American civilization. She earned a Ph.D. in sociology at the University of Pennsylvania.
Barbara Shinn-Cunningham, a professor of biomedical engineering at Boston University, will join the faculty at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh this fall to serve as director of the university’s new Neuroscience Institute. She has served on the faculty at Boston University since 1997.
Dr. Shinn-Cunningham is a graduate of Brown University. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of technology.
Barbara Engelhardt Martin was promoted to associate professor of computer science at Princeton University in New Jersey. She joined the Princeton faculty in 2014 after serving as an assistant professor of biostatistics and bioinformatics at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.
Dr. Englehardt Martin is a graduate of Stanford University in California and holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.

Ashkar is a graduate of Lebanese University. She earned a master’s degree from American University in Beirut, and a Ph.D. in physics at Indiana University.
Nsoki Mavinga was promoted to associate professor of mathematics and statistics at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania. She joined the faculty in 2013 after serving for two years as a visiting professor. Earlier, she taught at the University of Rochester.
Dr. Mavinga earned a Ph.D. in mathematics at the University of Alabama-Birmingham in 2008.

Dr. Lewis is a graduate of Robert Morris University in Moon, Pennsylvania. She earned a master’s degree in English literature at Ohio University and a Ph.D. in American studies at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Professor Kitko is a graduate of Denison University in Granville, Ohio. She earned her medical degree at Ohio State University.

Dr. Newall is a graduate of Amherst College in Massachusetts. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dr. Zydlewski is a summa cum laude graduate of what is now the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Rhode Island and a Ph.D. from the University of Maine.

Dr. Baker is graduate of Yale University, where she majored in philosophy. She holds a master’s degree, a law degree, and a Ph.D. in women’s studies from Emory University in Atlanta.

Dr. Moran is a graduate of Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. She earned a master’s degree at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and a Ph.D. at the University of Georgia.
