
Founded in 1919, the American Meteorological Society is a nonprofit scientific and professional organization promoting and disseminating information about the atmospheric, oceanic, and hydrologic sciences. Headquartered in Boston, the society has more than 13,000 members.
Professor Evans’ research is focused on tropical cyclones. She uses big data to forecast and predict hurricanes. Dr. Evans serves as the director of the Institute for Cyber Science at Penn State. Before joining the faculty at the university, Dr. Evans was a visiting scientist at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.
Professor Evans holds a bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. in applied mathematics from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.
