New High-Level Administrative Jobs in Higher Education for Eight Women

Loni N. Kline was appointed vice president for institutional advancement at Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport. Since 2014, she has served as associate vice president for development and donor relations at Lycoming College in Williamsport.

Kline is a graduate of Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. She holds a master’s degree in health administration from the University of Phoenix.

Laura A. Bayless was named vice president for student affairs at Fitchburg State University in Massachusetts. Since July 2013, she has served as assistant vice chancellor for student affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.

Dr. Bayless earned a bachelor’s degree in speech communications/mass media from Denison University on Granville, Ohio. She holds a master’s degree in college student personnel services from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and a Ph.D. in educational leadership and policy studies from Virginia Tech.

Carol Puryear was promoted to vice chancellor of economic and community development for the Tennessee Board of Regents. She joined the University of Tennessee System in 1994 and since 2012 has served as associate vice chancellor for instruction and special projects for the colleges of applied technology.

Dr. Puryear holds a master’s degree in technical education from Middle Tennessee State University and a doctorate in higher education administration and supervision from Tennessee State University.

Melinda Stoopes was named associate vice president for student affairs at Boston College, effective June 19. She has been serving as associate vice president for student affairs and dean of students at Framingham State University in Massachusetts.

Dr. Stoopes is a graduate of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, where she majored in psychology. She earned a master’s degree at Radford University in Virginia and a doctorate at Indiana State University.

Amy Soricelli was promoted to vice president of career services at Berkeley College, which operates three campuses in New York and five in New Jersey. She joined the staff at the college in 2009 and since 2014 has been the director of alumni relations.

Soricelli holds a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree is education guidance and counseling from Herbert H. Lehman College of the City University of New York System.

Shantell Hinton was appointed assistant chaplain and assistant director of religious life at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. She is an ordained minister in the Disciples of Christ church.

Rev. Hinton holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Vanderbilt University. She earned a master’s degree in electrical engineering at Colorado State University and a master’s degree from Vanderbilt Divinity School.

Jocelyn Samuels was named executive director of the Williams Institute on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Law and Public Policy in the School of Law at the University of California, Los Angeles. From 2014 to early 2017, she was director of the Office for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Samuels is a graduate of Middlebury College in Vermont, where she majored in English language and literature. She earned a juris doctorate at Columbia Law School.

Melissa Trifiletti was promoted to vice president for enrollment management and access at Colorado State University. She had been serving as director od admissions. Before joining the admissions staff at the university, Trifiletti was executive director for admissions and new student programs at Portland State University in Vermont.

Trifiletti is a graduate of what is now Baldwin-Wallace University in Berea, Ohio.
