The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, has granted tenure to 11 faculty members. Seven of the 11 faculty members granted tenure are women. The seven women were also promoted from assistant professor to associate professor.
Alo C. Basu was promoted to associate professor of psychology. She joined the faculty at the college in 2011. Her research is focused on genetic and environmental risk factors for neuropsychiatric disorders. Dr. Basu is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she majored in brain and cognitive science and biology. She holds a Ph.D. in neurobiology from Harvard University.
Stephanie R. Chaudoir was named an associate professor of psychology and granted tenure. A member of the college’s faculty since 2012, Dr. Chaudoir’s research concentrates on the role of stigma on psychological and physical health. Dr. Chaudoir is a graduate of Butler University in Indianapolis. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of Connecticut.
Bridget V. Franco was appointed an associate professor of Spanish. A Holy Cross faculty member since 2009, Dr. Franco is an expert on Latin American film. She recently launched a bilingual web portal for scholars of Latin American film studies. Dr. Franco holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Spanish from the University of Notre Dame. She earned a Ph.D. in Spanish at the University of California, Irvine.
Amber M. Hupp was promoted to associate professor of chemistry and granted tenure. She focuses her research on bio-diesel fuels. Dr. Hupp joined the faculty at the College of the Holy Cross in 2009. She earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry at Kalamazoo College and a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry at Michigan State University.
Michelle A. Mondoux was named an associate professor of biology. Her research has been focused on gender differences in the effects of a high-glucose diet. Dr. Mondoux joined the college’s faculty in 2010. She is a graduate of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, where she majored in biological sciences. Dr. Mondoux earned a Ph.D. in molecular biology at Princeton University.
Olga S. Partan was appointed an associate professor in the department of modern languages and literatures. She is the author of Vagabonding Masks: The Italian Commedia dell’Arte in the Russian Artistic Imagination (Academic Studies Press, 2017). Dr. Parton has been a member of the college’s faculty since 2012. She is a graduate of the Moscow Shchukin Theater Institute in Russia. She holds a master’s degree from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in Slavic languages from Brown University.
Julia Paxson was promoted to associate professor of biology. She investigates how aging affects the cellular response to cigarette smoke. Dr. Paxson is a graduate of Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, where she double majored in biochemistry and mathematics. She holds a Ph.D. in developmental biology from Yale University and a doctorate in veterinary medicine from Tufts University.
