Marcy C. Purnell was named to the William A. and Ruth F. Loewenberg Chair of Excellence in the College of Nursing at the University of Memphis. She is the director of nursing research at the university. Dr. Purnell joined the faculty at the University of Memphis in 2011.
Professor Purnell holds a bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. She also holds a master’s degree from the University of Memphis.
Samantha Power was appointed the Anna Lindh Professor of the Practice of Global Leadership and Public Policy at the Kennedy School of Harvard University. She will hold a joint appointment as a professor at Harvard Law School. Professor Power served as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations during President Obama’s second term. Power is the author or editor of several books including “A Problem From Hell”: America and the Age of Genocide (Basic Books, 2002), for which she earned the Pulitzer Prize.
A native of Ireland, Professor Power is a graduate of Yale University and Harvard Law School.
Rachel Green was named a Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of biology at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Professor Green joined the faculty in the department of molecular biology and genetics at Johns Hopkins University in 1998.

Gordana Vunjak-Novakic is the Mikati Foundation Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Columbia University in New York City. She has been given the rank of University Professor. Professor Vunjak-Novakovic also serves as professor of medical sciences and as director of the Laboratory for Stem Cells and Tissue Engineering at the university.
Professor Vunjak-Novakic has served on the Columbia University faculty for the past 12 years. She holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Belgrade in Serbia.
