Two Women Named Dean at Major Law Schools

Joan R.M. Bullock has been named the next dean of the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California. She will take office on July 1.

Bullock has been serving as associate dean for academic affairs at the College of Law of Florida A&M University in Orlando, Florida. From 2012 to 2015 she was associate dean of teaching and faculty development at the law school. Earlier, in her career, Professor Bullock taught at the law schools of the University of Toledo in Ohio and Georgia State University in Atlanta.

Professor Bullock is a graduate of Michigan State University. She holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and a juris doctorate from the University of Toledo.

Lyrissa Barnett Lidsky has been selected as the next dean of the University of Missouri School of Law. She will take office on July 1.

Professor Lidsky has been serving as a professor and associate dean for graduate and non-J.D. programs at the University of Florida College of Law. She has served on the faculty at the College of Law since 1994.

Professor Lidsky is a summa cum laude graduate of Texas A&M University, where she majored in English and political science. She studied medieval history at the University of Cambridge in England as a Fulbright Scholar. She then earned her law degree at the University of Texas.

Most recently, Dr. Sanders served as vice president of experiential product management and interim vice president of product and technology at Western Governors University.
