University of Texas at San Antonio President Resigns After Allegations of Misconduct

Ricardo Romo, the president of the University of Texas at San Antonio, has resigned his position less than a month after he was placed on leave pending a “review of allegations related to his conduct.” Published reports at the time, said that allegations of sexual misconduct had been made against the president.
In a statement announcing that he was stepping down, Dr. Romo said “I have been made aware that the manner in which I embraced women made them uncomfortable and was inappropriate. I understand and respect Chancellor McRaven’s concerns about my behavior and I deeply apologize for any conduct that offended anyone.”
Dr. Romo had announced last September that he was planning to retire in August 2017. He has led the university for more than 17 years.
