Kishwar Rizvi, associate professor in the history of art at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, received the Charles Rufus Morey Book Award from the College Art Association. Dr. Rizvi was honored for her book The Transnational Mosque: Architecture and Historical Memory in the Contemporary Middle East (University of North Carolina Press, 2015).
The award honors “the outstanding achievements and accomplishments of individual artists, art historians, authors, conservators, curators, and critics whose efforts transcend their individual disciplines and contribute to the profession as a whole and to the world at large.”
Dr. Rizvi is a graduate of Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. She holds a master of architecture degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After teaching at Barnard College in New York City. Dr. Rizvi joined the faculty at Yale in 2006. She was promoted to associate professor and granted tenure in 2012. In 2016, Dr. Rizvi was named director of undergraduate studies, for the department of the history of art at Yale.
