Terri Fisher, professor of psychology on the Mansfield campus of Ohio State University, is the lead author of a study comparing men and women’s thought patterns on sex and other biological functions.
Professor Fisher gave tally counters to men and women college students. The students were told to count how many times they had a particular thought on either sex, sleeping, or eating. The results showed that men thought about sex, on average, about 19 times per day. Women, on average, thought about sex 10 times per day.
Men were also more likely than women to think about eating and sleeping but the average gender differences in these two areas was not as great as it was for thoughts about sex.
