New Administrative Positions for Five Women at American Universities

Anna Rodriguez was appointed associate nursing officer at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. She was the director of oncology and women’s and children’s programs at Presence Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago.
A native of the Philippines, she holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing and a master’s degree in health administration.
Emily Stamas was promoted to director of the Office of Marketing and Communications at the Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. She has served as manager of brand standards for the medical school since 2008. She taught graphic design at the University of Dayton from 2001 to 2005.
Stamas is a graduate of the University of Dayton, where she majored in visual communication design. She earned a master of public administration degree from Wright State University.
Julie Lenzer is the new associate vice president for economic development at the University of Maryland, College Park. For the past two years, Lenzer has served as director of the Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship for the Economic Development Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Lenzer is a graduate of Texas A&M University, where she majored in computer science.
Laura Fine was promoted to director of the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. The center is a joint effort of the university’s College of Business and the U.S. Small Business Administration. Fine has been on the staff at the center for 27 years.
Fine is a graduate of the University of Central Arkansas. She holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Renata Engel was appointed interim vice provost for online education at Pennsylvania State University. She has been serving as associate vice provost for online programs, the chief academic officer for the Penn State World Campus.
Dr. Engel has been on the staff at Penn State since 1990. Previously, she served as associate dean of the College of Engineering and as executive director of the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence. Dr. Engel is a graduate of Penn State and holds a Ph.D. in engineering mechanics from the University of South Florida in Tampa.
