Sally Taylor was appointed an assistant professor of entomology in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Dr. Taylor will also serve as an extension specialist and conduct research at the Tidewater Agricultural Research and Extension Center.
Dr. Taylor holds a bachelor’s degree in anthropology and a PhD. in entomology from North Carolina State University.
Karen V. Guth is a new assistant professor of religious studies at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. She is the author of Christian Ethics at the Boundary: Feminism and Theologies of Public Life (Fortress Press, 2015).
Dr. Guth is a graduate of Furman University in South Carolina. She holds master’s degrees from the University of Glasgow in Scotland and Harvard University and a Ph.D. in religious ethics from the University of Virginia.
Patricia Mezinskis, professor of nursing emerita at the University of Cincinnati, was named the interim executive director of the Emeriti Center at the university. The center has the goal of providing retired faculty with intellectual stimulation and social interactions with other members of the university community.
Carl Huether, president of the Emeriti Association, stated the center will include “increased opportunity for scholarly engagement, intellectual enrichment, camaraderie, and maintenance of professional identity.”
