Two Women Administrators Stepping Down From High-Level University Posts

flanaganElizabeth A. Flanagan, the former vice president of development and university relations at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, was conferred the title of vice president emerita. Flanagan joined the staff at the university in 2000.

Flanagan created the Women in Leadership and Philanthropy initiative at Virginia Tech. The program has renamed its endowed lecture fund in her honor.

066204_obrien_lynne020Lynne O’Brien, associate vice provost for digital and online education initiatives, has stepped down from her full-time post but will continue on at the university on a part-time basis until the end of the year. She came to Duke in 1999 as the founding director of the Center for Instructional Technology.

Earlier in her career, Dr. O’Brien served on the faculty at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. She holds a Ph.D in education from the University of Delaware.
