University of Louisville Scholar Named Editor of Medical Journal

Heidi Koenig, a professor of anesthesiology and perioperative medicine at the University of Louisville was named editor-in-chief of the Journal of Medical Regulation. The journal is a quarterly peer-reviewed publication that addresses a wide range of issues of interest to state medical boards and organizations and individuals interested in medical licensing and regulation. Published continuously since 1913, the journal is distributed by the Federation of State Medical Boards.
Dr. Koenig stated that “I hope to use my extensive knowledge of the various functions of the Federation of State Medical Boards to the fullest. We are a small but growing journal and are working toward a greater online presence.”
Dr. Koenig joined the faculty at the University of Louisville in 2004. She was named to the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure in 2013 and serves as president of the Kentucky Society of Anesthesiologists. Dr. Koenig earned her medical degree at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
