Another Award for the Scholarship of Boston College’s Mary Sarah Bilder

Mary Sarah Bilder, the Founders Professor of Law and the Michael and Helen Lee Distinguished Scholar at the Boston College Law School, was announced as the recipient of the 2015 James Bradford Biography Prize from the Society for Historians of the Early American Republic (SHEAR). The society was founded in 1977 with the goal of promoting the study of American history during the 1776 to 1861 period.
Professor Bilder was honored for her book Madison’s Hand: Revisiting the Constitutional Convention (Harvard University Press, 2015). Earlier this year, Dr. Bilder won the Bancroft Prize from the trustees of Columbia University for the same book.
Professor Bilder is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Harvard Law School. She also holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in the history of American civilization from Harvard University.
