The Next Leader of the National Association of Addiction Professionals

Diane Sevening has been chosen as president-elect of the National Association of Addiction Professionals. The association represents more than 85,000 addiction counselors, educators, and addiction-focused healthcare professionals worldwide. Dr. Sevening will serve a two-year term as president-elect, then two years as president, and two years as past president.
Dr. Sevening is an assistant professor of addiction studies at the University of South Dakota. She has taught in the School of Health Sciences at the University of South Dakota since 1982.
Dr. Sevening holds a bachelor’s degree in alcohol and drug abuse studies, a master’s degree in counseling, guidance, and personnel services, and a doctorate in adult education, all from the University of South Dakota.
