Four Women Scholars Appointed to Endowed Chairs at Major Universities

RamburBetty Rambur was named to the Routhier Chair of Practice in the College of Nursing at the University of Rhode Island. She was the founding dean and a professor in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Vermont.

Professor Rambur is a graduate of the University of Mary in Bismark, North Dakota. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in nursing from Rush University in Chicago.

huntington-250Cynthia Huntington was appointed to the Frederick Sessions Beebe ’35 Professorship in the Art of Writing at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. She is the author of The Salt House: A Summer on the Dunes of Cape Cod (Dartmouth College Press, 1999) and several poetry collections.

Professor Huntington is a graduate of Michigan State University and holds a master’s degree from the Bread Loaf School of English at Middlebury College in Vermont.

Susan Hermanson was named the Cameron Distinguished Professor of Accountancy in the School of Business at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She joined the faculty at the university in 2000 after teaching at the University of Tampa and the University of Nevada Las Vegas.

Dr. Hermanson is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia. She holds a Ph.D. in accounting from Texas A&M University.

olintoAngela Olinto was named the Homer J. Livingston Distinguished Service Professor in Astronomy & Astrophysics at the University of Chicago. Professor Olinto joined the faculty at the university in 1996. She is the director of Extreme Universe Space Observatory mission that will fly in a NASA super pressure balloon in 2017.

Professor Olinto is a graduate of Pontificia Universidade Catolica in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She holds a Ph.D. in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
