JoAnne Epps Named Provost at Temple University in Philadelphia

JoAnne EppsJoAnne A. Epps has been selected as the next provost at Temple University in Philadelphia. Since 2008, she has served as dean of the university’s Beasley School of Law.

Professor Epps is a native of Cheltenham, Pennsylvania, and a daughter of the Temple University employee. Her first job at the age of 16 was as a cashier at the Temple University bookstore. Epps went on to earn a bachelor’s degree at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, and a law degree at Yale Law School.

Professor Epps joined the Temple faculty in 1985. She was named associate dean of academic affairs at the law school in 1989. She was promoted to full professor in 1994.

In accepting the position as provost, Professor Epps states that “I greatly appreciate this nomination as provost, which offers the opportunity to continue Temple’s remarkable momentum while also staying true to its historic mission. I would be honored to serve as provost and committed to elevating the university even higher.”
