University of Wisconsin Scholar to Lead the National Library of Medicine

brennan-patriciaPatricia Flatley Brennan was named director of the National Library of Medicine, a division of the National Institutes of Health. The institution is the largest biomedical library in the world. The library’s collections are searched billions of times each year.

Dr. Brennan has been serving as Lillian L. Moehlman Bascom Professor in the School of Nursing and the College of Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. A past president of the American Medical Informatics Association, Dr. Brennan also has held faculty posts at Marquette University in Milwaukee and Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.

Professor Brennan is a graduate of the University of Delaware. She holds a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. in industrial engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
