Grants or Gifts Relating to Women in Higher Education

money_bagHere is this week’s news of grants and gifts that may be of particular interest to women in higher education.

St. Catherine University in Minnesota received a $18 million grant from the GHR Foundation to advance growth and innovation in healthcare education. The university, where traditional undergraduate programs are reserved for women, will use the funds to develop new programs and curricula, hire faculty, and upgrade technology infrastructure.

Cleveland State University in Ohio received a $3349,200 grant from the National Institutes of Health for research in women’s reproductive health. The research will investigate the cellular machinery that impacts conception and how defects in this process can lead to infertility.

The University of Alabama Birmingham received a $775,000 grant from the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama to support the research of the UAB Cancer Center. Since 1996, the university has received more than $5.8 million from the foundation.
