Carolyn N. Dean was named the Charles J. Stille Professor of History and French at Yale University. Professor Dean joined the Yale faculty in 2013 after teaching for more than 20 years at Brown University. She is the author of five books, including Aversion and Erasure: The Fate of the Victim After the Holocaust (Cornell University Press, 2010).
Dr. Dean holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in history, all from the University of California, Berkeley.
Tracy Kahn, curator of the Citrus Variety Collection at the University of California, Riverside, was appointed to the Givaudan Citrus Variety Collection Endowed Chair at the university. Since 1995, she has been curator of the collection, which includes at least four trees each of more than 1,000 varieties of citrus fruit.
Dr. Kahn has been on the faculty at the university for 30 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in botany from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. in botany from the University of California, Riverside.
Karen J. Castle was appointed to the Russell-Childers Professorship in the Laboratory Sciences at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. Her research focuses on the physical and chemical processes in Earth’s upper atmosphere.
Dr. Castle is a graduate of the University of California, Irvine. She holds a Ph.D. from Oregon State University.
Mari Tietze was named the inaugural holder of the Doswell Endowed Chair in Nursing Informatics at Texas Woman’s University. Since 2013, Dr. Tietze has been the director of the post-baccalaureate certificate in interprofessional informatics program at the university. She joined the faculty at the university in 2010.
Professor Tietze is a graduate of Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. She earned a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Kansas and a Ph.D. in nursing from Texas Woman’s University.
With more than 30 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Richtermeyer has spent the past three years as executive vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost at Rutgers University-Camden
Cheryl Norman was appointed president of Ridgewater College in Minnesota and Ellen Kennedy was named interim president of Cape Cod Community College in Massachusetts.
Dr. Scarlatta has led the University of Michigan-Dearbon on an interim basis for the past year. Pending approval from the board of regents, she is slated to become the university's permanent leader on May 22.
Nicole Reaves has been serving as executive vice president and chief programs officer at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
