Two Women Scholars Named to Editorial Posts at Leading Academic Journals

shaneRachel Shane, an assistant professor of arts administration and director of the arts administration program at the University of Kentucky, was named editor-in-chief of the Journal of Arts Management, Law, and Society. Before joining the faculty at the University of Kentucky in 2010, Dr. Shane served as department chair and professor of arts administration at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia.

Dr. Shane is a graduate of Northern Arizona University, where she majored in theater. She holds a master’s degree in arts administration from Drexel University in Philadelphia and a doctorate in cultural policy and arts administration from Ohio State University.

VanHookJennifer Van Hook, professor of sociology and demography at Pennsylvania State University, has been named a co-editor of the journal Demography. The journal is the flagship publication of the Population Association of America. Professor Van Hook also serves as the director of the Population Research Institute at Penn State.

Dr. Van Hook joined the faculty at Penn State in 2007 and was promoted to full professor in 2010. Earlier in her career, she taught at Bowling Green State University in Ohio and the University of Texas at Austin. Professor Van Hook is a graduate of Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. She holds a master’s degree in sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Texas.
