Sherilyn Fritz, the George Holmes University Professor of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is the new co-chair of the steering committee of Past Global Changes (PAGES). The international organization, based in Bern, Switzerland, supports research which aims to understand the Earth’s past environment in order to obtain better predictions of future climate and environment, and inform strategies for sustainability. PAGES was established in 1991 with support from the National Science Foundation of both the United States and Switzerland. Its journal, Past Global Changes, has 5,500 subscribers in 125 countries.
Dr. Fritz’s current research projects focus on long-term hydrologic variability in tropical South America and in the Great Plains and Rocky Mountain regions of North America. She is a graduate of Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. Professor Fritz earned a master’s degree at Kent State University in Ohio and a Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota.

Cheryl Norman was appointed president of Ridgewater College in Minnesota and Ellen Kennedy was named interim president of Cape Cod Community College in Massachusetts.
Dr. Scarlatta has led the University of Michigan-Dearbon on an interim basis for the past year. Pending approval from the board of regents, she is slated to become the university's permanent leader on May 22.
Nicole Reaves has been serving as executive vice president and chief programs officer at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
The selected candidate should have expertise and experience in theoretical models in labor and public economics as well as in microeconometrics and programming.
