Andrea Tawney was promoted to vice president for university advancement at New Mexico State University. She has served as interim vice president for university advancement since last August. She joined the university in 2011 as assistance dean for development at the university’s College of Business.
Dr. Tawney holds a bachelor’s degree in justice systems policy and planning and a master’s degree in education from Northern Arizona University. She holds a doctorate in education from Texas Tech University.
Sarah Scalese was appointed associate vice president for university communications at Syracuse University in New York. She has served in the post on an interim basis since October. Earlier, she was communications director for the College of Arts and Sciences.
Scalese holds a bachelor’s degree in communication from Jacksonville University in Florida.
Eva K. Pickens was named vice president for university advancement at Texas Southern University in Houston. She has served in this role on an interim basis since September. Pickens has been on the university’s staff for nearly 25 years.
Pickens is a graduate of Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she completed her journalism degree in three years.
Paula Arce-Trigatti was named director of the National Education Research Practice Partnership that is based in the Kinder Institute for Urban Research at Rice University in Houston, Texas. She has been serving as a postdoctoral fellow in the Education Research Alliance at Tulane University in New Orleans.
Dr. Arce-Trigatti holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Florida State University in Tallahassee. She earned a Ph.D. in economics at the University of Houston.
Alison Bracewell McCullick was appointed community relations coordinator for the Office of Government Relations at the University of Georgia. She has been serving as the director of outreach and communications for the Georgia Regents University/University of Georgia medical partnership.
McCullick is a graduate of Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, and holds a master of public administration degree from the University of Georgia.
Erin Robinson Swink was named the creative director of the master’s degree program in games and playable media at the Silicon Valley Center of the University of California, Santa Cruz. She is an independent game designer and taught at Columbia College in Chicago for the past five years.
Swink is a graduate of Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, where she majored in psychology.
Dr. Burris has served as provost of Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina for the past four years. She is slated to become the next president of SUNY's Buffalo State University on July 1.
Dr. Thompson's appointment marks a return to Union Theological Seminary, where she previously taught for three years. Most recently, she was the Cornelius Vanderbilt Chair of Black Homiletics & Liturgics at Vanderbilt University in Nashville.
