Sue J. Mattison Named the Next Provost at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa

Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, has announced the appointment of Sue J. Mattison as the school’s next provost. She will take office in the summer of 2016.
Since 2011, Dr. Mattison has served as dean of the College of Professional Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Earlier, she served in several faculty and administrative roles during a 21-year career at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. During this period, Dr. Mattison was also an adjunct professor in the College of Public Health at the University of Iowa.
In accepting the appointment, Dr. Mattison said that “Drake University has an outstanding reputation within Iowa, across the United States, and internationally. I share a passion for the institution’s stated mission of preparing students as engaged and responsible citizens, and its institutional values of civility, academic integrity, and freedom of thought and inquiry. I am so excited and honored by this incredible opportunity.”
Dr. Mattison holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Northern Iowa. She earned a doctorate at the University of Iowa.
